Brian Luff

Chief Executive Officer

Brian Luff joined HealthSouth in November of 2014 and brings more than 15 years of healthcare experience to his role. Prior to joining HealthSouth, Brian worked for Mountain States Health Alliance as the director of Quillen Rehabilitation Hospital. Brian is a graduate of the University of Tennessee with a bachelor’s degree in physical therapy, as well King College with a master’s in business administration. During his career, he has served in a wide range of clinical and administrative roles in various settings including acute care, outpatient, and inpatient rehabilitation. 

Michael Spady

Michael Spady

Medical Director

Dr. Spady has served as the medical director at Quillen Rehabilitation Hospital since November 2014. Prior to becoming medical director, he worked extensively at Quillen Rehabilitation Hospital and has more than 30 years’ experience in physical medicine and rehabilitation. He graduated from Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania then went on to complete his surgical internship at The Graduate Hospital and his residency in PM&R at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Post residency, he began teaching at Cardinal Hill Rehabilitation Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky from 1986-1989. His hobbies include fly-fishing, photography and web design.

The hospital provides access to independent physicians.

Lynn Langan

Lynn Langan

Chief Nursing Officer

Lynn has been employed with Quillen Rehabilitation Hospital since 2011. She has 25 years nursing experience in emergency medicine, surgery, acute care and skilled nursing. She graduated from the University of Pikeville in Pikeville, KY with an associate’s degree in nursing and from Virginia Commonwealth University with a bachelor’s degree in the same field. She also obtained a master’s in business administration from Milligan College. In November 2014, Lynn accepted the role as chief nursing officer of Quillen Rehabilitation Hospital. 

Penny Lawson

Penny Lawson

Human Resources Director

Penny Lawson began her career in healthcare over 26 years ago at Indian Path Medical Center. In 1998, Penny began her career in human resources at Indian Path and provided services to employees of the 261-bed acute care hospital. In November 2014, Penny accepted the role of director of human resources for Quillen Rehabilitation Hospital.  She is currently pursuing her PHR certification and plans to be completed by Fall 2015. 

Jeff Robinette

Director of Therapy

Jeff graduated from Tennessee State University in 1996 with a bachelor’s degree in physical therapy and began his clinical career at Quillen Rehabilitation Hospital immediately following graduation in 1996. In addition to inpatient rehabilitation, Jeff has worked in acute care, as well as, a dedicated wound care unit where he specialized in contact casting for diabetic foot ulcers. In 2006, Jeff returned to Quillen Rehabilitation Hospital in a clinical role and in November 2014, he accepted the role of director of therapy operations.

Ken Runion

Director Plant Operations

Ken Runion started his career in facility maintenance while working for a local textile company. He progressed through an electro/mechanical apprenticeship program while there and spent four years working as a maintenance mechanic. In 2001, he joined Mountain States Health Alliance and assumed responsibility for Quillen Rehabilitation Hospital as the facilities engineer. He accepted the position as director of plant operations in November of 2014 as part of the joint venture between HealthSouth and Mountain States Health Alliance. 

Kristen Schober

Director of Case Management

Kristen has been a social worker since 2009 and started with the Encompass Health network at its Bristol hospital in 2013. She was promoted to director of case management at the Kingsport hospital in 2015 then joined the Quillen Rehabilitation Hospital in 2018.

Miranda Stout

Miranda Stout

Business Development Director

Miranda joined Quillen Rehabilitation Hospital in March 2015 as a rehab liaison and brings more than 5 years of healthcare experience to her role. She was promoted to director of marketing operations in May 2017. Prior to joining HealthSouth, Miranda worked as a physical therapist assistant at HMG Rehab. She graduated from Walter’s State Community College in 2012 with her associate’s degree in physical therapist assistant and went on to graduate with her bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration from King University in 2017.

Debbie Wyse

Debbie Wyse

Controller

Debbie joined HealthSouth as controller of Quillen Rehabilitation Hospital in October 2014. She received her bachelor’s degree in accounting from Mississippi State University and her master’s in business administration from Loyola University in New Orleans. Debbie received her certification as a Certified Healthcare Financial Professional (CHFP) in 2013. She began her career has an accountant and financial analyst in the oil and gas industry and transitioned into healthcare after moving to the Johnson City area in 1994. Debbie has over 15 years experience in the healthcare industry including three and a half years as the financial analyst for Quillen Rehabilitation Hospital while it was owned by Mountain States Health Alliance.

Ryan Youngblood

Ryan Youngblood

Director of Quality and Risk

Ryan has worked in healthcare administration for 5 years. He also brings 13 years of experience in the fields of sales, marketing and finance to our organization. Ryan received his bachelor’s degree in pre-health professions/biology from Jacksonville State University, and in 2011, he earned his master’s degree in healthcare administration from Des Moines University. Ryan had several years of administrator experience in long-term care before moving into inpatient rehabilitation. In November 2014, Ryan became the director of quality and risk for Quillen Rehabilitation Hospital. Ryan also serves as an active adjunct faculty member in the East Tennessee State University Department of Public Health and holds a license as a nursing home administrator for Tennessee.
